New feature: Was it helpful?

A couple of weeks ago we quietly added a simple question for members at the bottom of every gear review (and forum post) on Trailspace: "was this helpful?"

By simply clicking "yes" or "no" you can help make Trailspace more useful for everyone.

How? Eventually the most useful reviews -- as determined by your votes -- will rise to the top of a product page, while the least useful will sink to the bottom, making it easier for all Trailspace users to access the most helpful gear reviews quickly and easily.

But it only works if you participate. The more reviews community members rate, the more accurate and useful the site will become. So when you see that question -- "was this helpful?" -- take just a second to answer honestly and know that, "yes" or "no", you're making Trailspace a better source of backcountry gear information.

I think that's a good idea, and should also encourage the reviewer to put more effort into the review.

Just a really solid addition in my mind... now, I must ask... can we rate this blog post as helpful? :)

Good point. We could do either the same "was this helpful" option or a "like/dislike" for blog posts and articles.

Opinions?

Well, I was just being a cheeky son-of-a-gun. I find the conversation in the related threads from articles very helpful (and appreciate the integration between the two mediums). A "like/dislike" on the blog and articles may make it too easy to judge them quickly... make people write some thoughts down!
