The Season: Itchy Feet

Fitz Cahall and Bryan Smith's anticipated The Season 2 launched last week. The 22 short web episodes follow five outdoor athletes, one of whom is top female boulderer Thomasina Pidgeon.

With multiple V12 ascents, Pidgeon spends most of her life on the road searching out the next project, along with her traveling companion and sometimes climbing partner, 4-year-old daughter Cedar.

I'm drawn to these episodes, fascinated both by what drives other people's outdoor passions and the logistics and choices that make it a reality, especially for a fellow parent. Each five-minute episode is short enough to fit in during a work break or during those free minutes while you're waiting for your running or hiking partner to get ready.

Watch episode 2.3 "Itchy Feet" below, which introduces Pidgeon and Cedar. Or find the first three episodes of The Season 2, with more to come, at www.theseasontv.com.

Years ago, when I quit my job to hike the AT, I told the reporter that every fall, I got "Itchy feet." He was sympathetic, and let me know that he had also suffered from athlete's foot.  I let him know that I was talking about something else!

Very funny! I'm picturing him handing you a bottle of Gold Bond.
