Outdoor Retailer: The Start of a Gear Relationship

Outdoor Retailer Summer Market starts Wednesday, and the trade show promises ever more shells and shelters, "hot new color pops," and innovative outdoor gear, apparel, footwear, and accessories.

With 1,300 brands exhibiting, most outdoor enthusiasts will find something that catches their gear eye.

For climbers, Metolius offers the lightest micro cam on the market. Trail runners can be "actively cooled" in their um... shorts liner area, thanks to Mountain Hardwear. Paleo and other protein fans can nosh on organic, grass-fed beef, turkey, or lamb bars from Epic. Everyone can waterproof their old fleeces with Nikwax.

And if you're not sure what you'll want to wear in spring 2014, Outdoor Research is launching 150 new and updated styles.

Outdoor Retailer is a heady gear experience.

But, it's just the start.

I love the summer and winter OR shows. They give me an idea as to how much money I will be dumping on gear in the not so distant future.

Nice write-up, Alicia! I can't wait to see the footage that Dave and Seth bring us from the show. I've always enjoyed Trailspace's coverage of the O.R. shows!

What a great show! Everyone there agreed that ORSM 2013 was one of the busier shows in recent memory. It was a little overwhelming for me - around every corner was something new and exciting to try on, taste, or shoot pictures of.  I hope everyone enjoys the coverage - Dave and I had our hands full trying to capture 1/10th of it all!
