Using Binoculars while Backpacking

Does anyone use/ bring with them binoculars while backpacking? They would probably be considered a luxury, but I have found that there are times when I wish I had a pair with me. They would ocme in handy when observing wildlife from a distance or just getting a better look at the next destination. Any thought, comments, or suggestions? Any recommendations for a cheap and light pair.
