Adding Figure -8 to backpack? Newbie needs HELP.

I have a Gregory Shasta pack and have seen references to a figure 8 pocket added to the Shasta to store items.

What is this and where can I get one?

Headed to Philmont BSA ranch in June and wouold appreciate any advice.
