This really makes long range planning hard. We can put a man on the moon, but we can't tell what this winter will ski like. I guess that its the nature of predictions to be wrong. Oh well.

Accuweather says:

Accuweather ALSO says:

Which do YOU believe? Why? Or is it a waste of time to try to predict?

I think they are just guessing anyway. Yea its an informed guess but a guess just the same. I live in southern nh and two of three say above average snowfall and the third just misses me for the same. We would need a record level just to break even for last year. I got new snowshoes for xmas last year and never used them. Im lookin forward to a big snow year!!

'30% chance of rain', means that out of ten people in the weather office, three think it might.
Sometimes I think weather forecasters are just trying to keep themselves in a job.

I would like to make a motion to announce SagetoSnow as the new Trailspace weatherman. In his newly aquired job his responsibilities will include...
1) Spinning around ten times.
2) Choosing a random colour of paper, which will corespond to a predetermined level of snowfall.
3) With child safe scissors, safety first!, he will cut that paper into an odd shape.
4) Next he will be required to down a couple of beverages from a local micro brew of his choosing.
5) Lastly he will play a blindfolded, debauchery filled, dizzying game of Pin the Weather on the Map.
I put his chances of beating the professionals at 50/50.

Well I already do numbers 1 and 4 and debauchery sounds like nice clean fun so all I really have to learn is how to use scissors so how hard could it be? I accept!

considering that a bunch of Italian scientists just got convicted of manslaughter for failing to predict an earthquake, i think people who try to predict the weather are next.
worth noting that everyone in the weather community predicted that Sandy would be a monster storm. i flew over the storm tuesday night on the way back from eastern europe (via istanbul). first time i have ever watched a lightning storm from above the clouds. pretty wild.

Is it too late to withdraw my acceptance?

Don't believe any of them. They are predictions that warn of possible conditions.

I think all weatherpeople are drunk. is that a good job or what?
