small/wide boots

I am looking for waterproof hikingackpacking boots. The problem is that I wear a women's size 5 to 5.5 wide width, and I am having a terrible time finding shoes. As very few stores near me carry my size (or any children's boots even) I have been ordering many pairs online. As this is my first pair of boots, I am ordering at random (and not having much luck). Has anyone had experiences finding small/wide boots and could give me suggestions for brand names, etc.? Thanks a lot...

Try the Scarpa SL in a wide size. Sierra Trading Post has them on sale for $73. This is a great boot, at a great price. I'm not 100% sure on European conversion charts, but I believe that you are a 36 (the site below lists the conversion to MEN's sizes, but I don't believe that it is that accurate). One other boot to try (very wide sizes available) are the Dunham Premier Hikers, available at any New Balance Outlet (my friend Bob uses these and likes them, but he is a EEEEE width, whisch I suspect are wider than you need) - SherpaKroto

Here's the link for the Scarpa's

Tried Vasque? Has variable width footbed...

try to find a local dealer, see if it fits and then order online for a better price. The Clarion GTX or Vista GTX are very nice, imho.

I have the same problem - a very small ( size 5) wide (EEE) foot. I am also looking for hiking boots. Please share with me any information you have found. (Re: other kinds of shoes for this foot type, I wear Birkenstock's, and P. W. Minor X-tra Depth shoes. Very comfortable.)
