I am traveling to Europe for about three weeks. Any suggestions on size or brand of backpack will be helpful

Depends on where you plan on sleeping and where you are in life. If you are going "high end" and camping out while staying at expensive places than I "havent't done that, haven't been there". If you are on a tight budget and young, then ......

I stayed in youth hostels (maybe they still have them. At the time, the "Lets Go Europe" guide was the best). The point being that you will want to get by with the smallest backpack possible so it can be stored in a train station or airport locker. It is sooooo nice to be able to chuck the backpack and go sightseeing. A soft back or internal frame work the best to stuff into a locker.
