Eureka Timberline 2XT vs. Pinnacle Pass 2XTA
I have heard very good things about Eureka tents and I really would like to purchase one of these tents but I just can't figure out which one is better than the other. I am pretty well set on either one of these two tents I just can't make the final choice. I know the pros and cons of both but I am just looking for some first hand advice. So any help would be great!

Re: Eureka Timberline 2XT vs. Pinnacle Pass 2XTA
I have the Eureka Timberline 4. This thing is like a nylon house. Well ventilated and extremely storm proof. Very easy set up.
I bought it in 1990 and it still is in as good shape as the day I bought it. Used many times. Made in China.
The tent I currently use for backpacking and love is a Eureka Timberlite 2. Kind of a condensed version of the Timberline. Also made in China
Eureka is good stuff.

Eureka was making their tents in China way back in 1990?

The good tents were made in China, the suspect ones were made in Oxnard.

Re: Eureka Timberline 2XT vs. Pinnacle Pass 2XTA
Thanks for the advice. The review site was a big help. The only problem is that if there are two reviews on the same tent they are almost always conflicting. I have looked at both tents in person and I like both but of course I only have the money to buy one. Each one just has things that I like and not like about them. The Pinnacle Pass is a lot lighter than the Timberline, but I feel the Timberline offers a little more protection against the elements. I guess I will just have to pick one and test it out on my own.

Re: Eureka Timberline 2XT vs. Pinnacle Pass 2XTA
After looking at both models, I would go with the Pinnacle.
Along with my Timberline and Timberlite, I once owned a Camp Trails White Lake 2 that is almost identical in design to the Pinnacle.
For me, sleeping perpendicular to the front door (pinnacle) as aposed to parrallel (Timberline), It was easier to get in and out of the tent from the perpendicular position (you just swing your feet around).
It's also easier to lay out the sleeping bag and sleeping pad and retrieve stuff in the perp position.
Creek, Oxnard was a joke.

Ah yes I haven't even thought of that aspect. I have been in both types of tents and it really is easier with a side door. With two people I can really see the advantage of having your own door to get in and out of. The one concern I have about the Pinnacle is with the coverage of the fly. I have heard some people say that there isn't much protection from rain around the side vent. Whether that really is the case or not I don't know.

Re: Eureka Timberline 2XT vs. Pinnacle Pass 2XTA
after re-thinking this, I believe that the pinnacle would be the parrallel and the Timberline would be the perpendicular.
I'd also go to a store that sells both tents and set them both up. See which is easier and faster to set up. Pretend darkness is descending on you in 10 minutes.
Creek, doesn't everyone know "Avacodo Bob" from Oxnard? I was in Air Force basic training with him. All he did was play with that yo-yo. He was even sponsored by Yo-Yo.
Maybe I'm thinking of that big Chinese guy, you know - yo.

Yeah I have seen both tents in person. In fact I camped in a Timberline when I was a kid. I think the Pinnacle Pass would be much easier to set up quickly. I actually am thinking of buying the 3 person model instead because after looking at the 2 person model it seems a little small and I don't think I have ever felt like I needed less space in a tent.

I lived with two Chinese guys in Akron Ohio, while renting off Ruth Jackson.

and they probably repeatedly beat you, thus resulting in your subconscience Chinese tent phobia.
My mother made some pretty good kids in China :)

Actually they introduced me to the wonder world of AUTHENIC Chinese cooking. :)
We got along. In fact they were some of the best house mates I ever had.
As for tents (or anything else for that matter), it has nothing to do with the Chinese people (which I have no problem with) but with the Communist system which uses labor from slave labor camps (being run by the Chinese military) which is a crime to the Chinese people.
