What were they thinking...

Don't you just love it when you buy a piece of gear and there is a clip, toggle, snap, or some other type of fastener somewhere that seems to have no purpose? I've had a Eureka! K2-XT tent for a couple years now, and there are toggles on the bottom corners of the hooped vestibule door. Does anyone have any idea what these would be used for? They obviously are not intended to hold the door open as there are ties for that at the top of the door. Are they on other expedition tents?

Re: What were they thinking...

Are there are couple loops for the those plastic "toggles" which are a 1/3 way up the lower edge of the vestibule door fabric?

If so, I believe those toggles are so the bottum portion of the dooor can be folded up and "toggled" to the loops. Then pull the door zip pulls down to hod the vestibule door from excessive flapping.

The resulting gap is to allow more air flow into the tent.
If you have an upper vent, open to allow for hi / lo venting (or lo/ hi venting).

...If no loops, then I guess the toggles are there to tap-tap-tap the tent all night during a storm....

I think TreeGuy is right. I have similar toggles on my tent and they are to hold the door or the inner door open or partly open. My doors can be rolled up, then fastened to the fly with the loops and toggles.

Re: What were they thinking...

Thanks guys. I had tried attaching them to the loops part way up the door, but it didn't seem to "create" anything. Now that I think about the last time it snowed, the air gap around the bottom of the tent was covered and there was no low - high air movement. Unfortunately, the storm started with about two hours of freezing rain and sleet, so the bottom of the door and the toggles where frozen solid to the ground by morning. I had to zip the door down from the top to get out. Thanks again.
