I was looking around for information about the White Mountain National Forest, and came across http://www.hikeSafe.com. The site is a joint effort by the White Mountain National Forest and New Hampshire Fish & Game Department. Has some very good information for beginners, and maybe even some refresher info for the experienced hiker.

Babs, Thanks for the link. Useful information, gathered in one place. A lot of this info is scattered all over Trailspace, which makes it hard to track down. So this is a good compilation.
Even though it is targeted toward New Hampshire and the Whites, much of it applies to just about anywhere in the world.

Hint, hint...Bill? Just kidding. The hikesafe website is useful, I agree. And we do want to better compile that info on Trailspace.
