In my experience the best winter stoves are presurized liquid fuel stoves using white gas or kerosene. I  use an MSR Dragonfly. heavy but fuel efficient.

 

Nest best is an efficient wood stove. i use a Trail Designs CC Sidewinder and Inferno gassifier woodburning insert. (No fuel to carry, only tinder.)

My jetboil has always served me well in winter conditions at semi high elevations (~10,000').

I agree. Now there are wood stoves small enough for backpacking that can heat a tent. That is really living in cold weather.
