I think he was filming with one hand while using his free hand to grab the handholds?  He definitely broke the "3 points of contact" rule everytime he moved his one free hand to the next handhold.

 

I watched some of the other videos and people were wearing harnesses but those harnesses didn't look very trustworthy either.  You could slip through 'em like a shirt!

Good Chinese engineering, I'm sure its safe.  Come to think of it, I rely on Chinese-made equipmnet all the time, nevermind. 

Can you imagine passing another hiker on the "trail?"
