Not to be a retrogrouch, but you can buy a really nice stove for $130 and boil your water.

No you're not a retrogrouch, Tom!

But I do have to say that I've had a SteriPEN Adventurer since last summer and really like a lot of things about it. While the lights on it aren't overly tricky to figure out, I think the Journey's LCD display will make the set-up far more idiot-proof. It sounds like a good idea.

For me, the only drawback for SteriPEN's purifiers is that you can't purify your water directly in a water reservoir. You have to do it in a water bottle first.

Otherwise, I think the SteriPEN models have a lot of excellent applications for hiking, backpacking, and travel. I'd want to try out the Journey.
