I think that this is a brilliant idea. As long as your stuff material is dry this will save LOADS of space and weight for extended backpack trips. Leaves and grass should make a good insulating layer and are available just about anywhere you want to go.

This is not a new idea. The original was the 64 pocket jacket (I think the name is correct) that was showcased inthe Museum of Modern Design. It was originally designed to keep homeless people warm. They would stuff it with discarded paper and if it got wet they would just empty the jacket shake it out and fill it again and when the sun came out they just empty the jacket. Genius idea but the Merrell version looks so flimsy!
