Booted on a regular basis...

I have noticed that I am constantly(and I mean constantly) getting booted from TS on the mobile.

I am currently on Verizon's 4G network(Droid Razr Maxx) which is running ICS(Android version 4.0.4.)

The problem I am experiencing is that when I get on TS I can view it for a few seconds and then the screen drops(not from inactivity) and then takes me back to Google's search page.

Normally this happens about 3 times for every one time I actually jump on the site which is somewhat annoying to me.

Sometimes the page will stay but more times than not I have to jump back on the site multiple times to finish reading a thread/responses, so on and so forth.

I never had this problem on Verizon's 3G with my Droid 3.

Thoughts?

Im always on my droid, and have never been booted off. Maybe see if there is a system update, its gotta be in that phones software. This is my second droid with no issues.

I had the Droid 1-3 and never had an issue. Once I got the Maxx and switched to 4G I have been getting kicked off.

No updates at the moment. They are going to be pushing Jellybean to this phone(and the Razr) in the coming months so who knows...

I'm on my Razr Maxx now with no problems. I suspect it is a software problem with your phone. I would call Verizon but talk to a Motorola specialist, not the Verizon tech. The first person you get won't likely know the answer.

Rick - I'll forward to Dave, but I'm with Tom in thinking that this is a local problem.

Also, what browser are you using? The OES browsers are usually pretty craptastic. I'd try using Dolphin or Chrome in desktop mode and see if the problem persists.

As others have noted, this sounds like a software issue on your phone.

If possible, deleting/resetting your browser's cookies and cache may help.

Is this happening with the mobile version of the site, the full version, or both?

Does it happen only on the cell network, or also when you're on Wifi?

What browser are you using?

Samsung Galaxy likes TS.  I just wish I didn't make so many typos with my phone keypad but its my fault, with a few assists from auto-correct.

It doesn't seem to happen when I am connected to wifi at home. Just on Verizon's 4G network. Browser wise I am using Google(not sure which one/stock on the phone.

I will delete the cookies/cache and see what happens.

I use 4G when I can, it seems to be faster than my wi-fi, so don't think it is that. I think it's the phone. Have you rebooted it lately?  I was using the mobile site, so don't know if that makes a difference.

As much as I hate to admit it I have no idea how to reboot it. :/

Hold down the power button for a few seconds until you get the power menu; one of the choices is power off. Power down the phone, then wait a minute or so then power it back up- same button. It should start with the Droid animation (the Star Wars looking thing).

Supposedly this helps reset the operating system and fix any minor glitches, or so says Kim Komando (an online computer columnist).

I have done that process many times. Especially on the weekends when I put up my imaginary do no disturb sign.

I wasn't aware that shutting the phone off reboots it.

I just thought I was turning it off.

If only this was a tent or a pack. Things would be so simple.

Blasted technology. :p

Oh and nix my prior statement in regards to it NOT happening on wifi.

It just happened.

Is it just TS where you have this issue?

Do others in your area using the same phone have this problem?

If no and yes, respectively, Rick may be dealing with sketchy reception quality, and/or regional bandwidth issues.

You can always use smoke signals, we all remember morse code from our scout days, right?

I only get booted on Trailspace. It has never happened elsewhere.

It's only off if you power down. Just turning the screen off isn't really powering it down all the way. I used to have to boot my Blackberry all the time because it was a terrible phone. The Razr is far superior. I'm out of ideas though as to what is going on. Might be a cookie issue. I'd try clearing all the cookies from the browser. I've seen cookies and the cache cause similar problems on my PC with one website using different forum software than Trailspace.

Just a lil update. I am still constantly kicked off the site on the mobile. It does not happen with any other site at any time.

This happens while on 4G and wifi.

Hmm, this is a bummer. It sounds to me like something is corrupt on your device.

Have you tried clearing cookies and cache? Using a different browser?

Does this happen when you're using the mobile version of the site, or the full version, or both?

Did using another browser, Chrome or Dolphin, behave the same?

I did clear history, etc but no dice.

Something new just happened. I just clicked on a link to a thread(cold electronics) on the TS FB page. It took me to the active thread on TS.

I posted on the thread. After I posted I scrolled to reread the initial post.

I was booted back to the TS Facebook page.

Uggghhhhh...

I have a non-TS friendly phone apparently.

That's very, very strange. When it took you back to the Facebook page, had you used the back button to get back to the thread, or were you just scrolling on the page after making your post?

I was told by phone carrier that even when off some things are still active and powered up. In order to totally reboot your phone he suggested a "power cycle" which in english means remove your battery for at least thirty seconds so all the power is drained from the phone. Evidently some functions store power for several seconds for some reason. I always thought my droid lost a little charge while off, I thought it was a poor batt but the phone is still drawing power while off.

Yeah, I wish I had that option. The Maxx's battery is not removable. The only site I get kicked from is TS...

Wow, this must be frustrating. I wish I knew what was going on so I could fix it!

When you get booted back are you viewing the mobile version of the site, or the full version?

(I'm assuming the mobile version. If so, you may want to try switching to the full version and seeing if that helps.)

Give it a try. There's a link at the bottom of every page that will switch you over.

Today I'm getting booted repeatedly as I'm trying to do a TR, whereas normally I get logged in automatically and stay logged in. Hope it's only temporary.
