I have a few quesitons.

I started hiking this year in the snow, what an adventure.

Here is my problem.

I wear crampons to get my butt up the hills. The problem that I am having is, I seem to have the tendency to kick my inner left calve with my right crampon. This is causing cuts in the left gaitor. Needless to say, that can get very costly if I have to replace a set of gaitors each time I go hiking.

Is there a gaitor that is resistant to cuts?

Is there something that I can coat my gaitor with so that it is more cut resistant?

Does anyone else have this problem?

How can I correct it?

I thought about rounding my crampon spikes on the inside, but then they are less effective on ice. Not sure I want to do that.

Thank you,
John
