O-ring friction lock tent poles won't lock

Hi, I have an older Hillary (wenzel) cabin tent with aluminum poles. Has anyone had any experience with an O-ring not locking on the poles? Thanks!

This not really a backpacking tent, so it is unlikely anyone here has even seen one. There is a phone number for Wenzel in the FAQs.
