The accessory "shower head" I got from REI has a plug/cap that slides in place of the valve that the juice bag normally has. So there is no leakage problem. I suspect that if you are going to a DIY solution, you could use something like an old bike inner tube, rig a hose clamp to seal it to the spout, then some sort of light plastic shower head (maybe off a gardener's watering can?) clamped into the outer end. Or you could just get a replacement hose and shower head for the SunShower or an imitation version.
As a water carrying bag, the valve for the juice liner bag can be removed (it is fairly flexible), the bag filled, then push the valve back onto the spout. Leaks are no problem for quite a long usage (never actually had one start leaking, even after several years of use).
