One of my chief concerns about this backpack was how the plastic-reinforced hipbelt would fare in transit and squashed into an airplane overhead. Happy to report that it's fine after my flight to the northeast today. The plastic has more than enough flexibility.

Though my initial expectations were tainted by my fab experienced with the predecessor Dana Design backpack I used for mid-range volume, I continue to feel very happy with this backpack's ability to carry the load comfortably, its excellent fit and finish, and the well thought out features.

Kudos also to trailspace for a great smartphone interface!

Mr Belly,

Thanks for sharing that. I’ve been catching your comments on the Baltoro here and there. I’ve been interested since I returned the one I bought about the same time you bought one. Your positive experiences have given me some “returners remorse”, lol. I’m glad you’re still digging it.
