What Eureka Tent To Buy?

I have had my Eureka timberline for many a years know, and it is on its last leg. I usually used it for camping up above the boundry waters in canada in the summertime. I can't remeber using anyother tent in my lifetime, and i think it is time for a change. Being impressed with the quailty of Eureka i have been looking at three of their tents in the 100-200 range.

Eureka! Apex 2XT
Eureka! Pinnacle Pass 2XTA
Eureka! Wabakimi

Any sugguestions...

They are all good options, but I think I would go with the Wabakimi due to the great venting options it has. Since you will be in a humid area in the summer this feature would be worth it to me. Thanks,

Re: What Eureka Tent To Buy?

We have the K2 XT which is an awesome tent for all seasons with great ventilation system (zip in zip out panels). We do not backpack this tent but use it for car camping in all weather. We have had many Timberline and Alpine Meadows but this tent far exceeds those. The biggest drawback is that it is ugly in bright yellow with a gigantic exclamation point and Eureka plastered on the fly. This really pisses us off and we are forever ribbed about what kind of tent we have. Remember that tents stretch and thus sag and leak with age, no matter what you treat them with, so don't sell the farm to buy a new tent - just plan on replacing it every few years. I would not recommend this tent for real hot/humid regular use, but for a general all season roomy tent, it is sweet.

dj - on the subject of K2 XT tents - Cabellas made a forest green one with black Eureka! and exclamation points that are almost unnoticable. I bought one last year right before they quit selling them (for $250!). Maybe if we petition them, they'll bring them back!

Think they'll let me trade mine for a green one?
