Kermode Bears

Has anyone in B.C. seem this animal first hand? I was just reading up on it on Wikipedia, and seeing one seems to be quite a rare thing indeed.

Re: Kermode Bears

I have only seen pictures, I live in the Southeast US so I'm about as far from the Kermode range as you can get. I have read about them though. I have read that the Kermode bear is an umbrella species, meaning that if the bears natural range is declared "protected habitat" many other species will also benefit.

Here is a link I ran across:

http://www.savespiritbear.org/project/spiritbear/about_bear/index.html

According to this site they are also referred to as the "spirit bear".

Cool!
