What are the best US made home water filters?

Although I wrote the series of articles here on Trailspace about water in the wilderness, I would not say that this is the place to get the answer to your question. Yes, you will get a lot of personal opinions ("I really love my Super Home Pure Spring Water Ultra Filtration System!"). But I would point out that Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports magazine, has conducted numerous very thorough and scientifically controlled tests of home water filter systems. I would suggest you go to your local library and look back through the last year or two's worth of issues. I recall a review of home filters during that time period.

Alicia, editor of Trailspace, did find a home filter that works well (she had the water tested before and after the filter). That one may fit your needs.
