Re: Labor Day

mahoosicmayhem I think you right 44 = the new 22, that makes me about 21, the math sounds correct to me.

Re: Labor Day

HaHa...Yes maybe I can be 22!

After considering a Hilleberg and an ID very seriously, I finally got the MH Sprite 1.

The price was right, it is well made, & I like a double wall tent with the inner mostly mesh. Not a 4 season tent, but with a wind break in winter it should meet all my needs.

I may still get an Hilleberg Akto just for deep winter in higher elevations.

I'll post a photo later.

Time to go grill out!!

BTW....I really enjoy being able to talk to all you guys/gals about camping, hiking, & backpacking. Charleston SC is just not a backpacking town although I have learned how to boogie board at the beach.

Plenty of water to kayak on too. I'm up the coast in NMB. We did have a 9300 acre wildlife preserve here you could day hike before the wildfires. Place was a haven for black bears and all sorts of wild and plant life. It was the stronghold for the Venus Flytrap.

Hey pub spears,

Um... North Myrtle Beach? Or?

I have a hobby of finding rare or regional plants, so talk to me....

A search for 9300 acre wilderness gets me: Cummins Creek Wilderness in Oregon.

The Venus fly trap is common around SC / NC with some locations in N. Florida, and some up the eastern seaboard. It seems to tolerate wildfires well.

Really?? Me too! I find more healing plants, soaproot, comfry, things like that. They are common for the most part.

Let me guess...Lewis Ocean Bay Preserve? Horry County?

Okay, not a guess but a little internet research.

Re: Labor Day

That's right. Pretty unique geography. Briar Rabbit wouldn't touch parts of it. The state put an expressway through there and now the wildfires have left it pretty crispy for a while. The rich folk at Barefoot Resort are trying to pave an old road in there now. Guess they want a nice smooth road in case they need to evac and don't won't to go out to 17. I think the DNR is requiring berms and wildlife underpasses, but the residents don't want to pay for that. They ought to just coquina the thing and leave it at that if they don't want to pony up.
