South Dakota, North Dakota trails?

I live in Watertown, SD and i will be going to NDSU (in fargo, ND) next year...is there any good places to trail around either of these two places? I'm new!

I would recommend the SD Badlands. Go past the touristy section and to the remote campground. Start hiking from there; there isn't any trail, so just go wherever. I have always seen a lot of wildlife. Bring your own water, as there isn't any at the campground or while hiking.
