JMT parking

Hi - I'm planning to do the JMT soon. Does anyone know where I can park a rig in Lone Pine (not the portal) for a few weeks? I'll be using the customary transpo fom there, i.e., CREST bus to Mammoth, and a YARTS from there to the trailhead. Thanks in advance for any responses.

When you get there, check with the USFS office in town. They will direct you to one of a couple legal and (somewhat) safe locations. Don't leave any valuables in the vehicle, though. Unfortunately, there are too many 2-legged critters around that might want to investigate (less than at the trailheads, though).

I assume you have your permit in hand already.

Thanks for the tip. I'm still in the early-planning phase, so don't have a permit yet. Maybe "soon" is misleading. I'm going to hit this trail when I retire, and that date is rapidly approaching. Yay!
