1st week of May Hiking SNP need a stealth campsite.Rockfish area

Starting at ROckfish gap, I can either go 8 miles ( too little) and camp at Calf Mountain Shelter or go a full 20 plus miles to make it to Black Rock shelter. Are there any stealth campsites in between say somewhere near Wildcat Ridge Trail. I hope to go 15 miles the first day, because I may not start until 9am and doing a tough 20 mile hike to start with doesn't set me up for the rest of the week. Any thoughts?
