I'm going to be in asheville NC next week and I'm sticking around for an extra day on Friday to do a day hike or two. I've been wanting to hit some Pisgah trails - thinking John Rock or Looking Glass or both! I'm comfortable with winter hikes (and precautions for changes in conditions etc) but I was trying to get a feel for trail conditions (ice, snow, mud, etc) so I know what gear I need to pack with me.  I tried to call the ranger office a couple times but have had no luck. Based on the weather reports for next week it doesn't look like snow is too much of an issue so the snow shoes and crampons can likely stay at home I'm thinking. I'm thinking its probably some ice, mud, and a little snow in spots. I know a few folks on the forums are from that neck of the woods so I wanted to see if anyone could provide any insight. Thanks!
