Scenes from the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks

Last week, I was reminded that many of my adventures in the mountains have been goal-oriented; rush to a trailhead, scoot up a mountain (or a trail), and return home when done. In consequence, there are many places I've driven past, putting them aside for 'another day'.

Last week, a client and I did the 'scenic tour' of the southern half of the Rocky Mountain Parks, and we made a point of stopping at a few of the lookouts and attractions along the way. No big adventures here, but a few pretty pictures and lots of memories.

The Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and while you're only getting a glimpse of some of the scenery in the southern half, I trust you'll get an understanding of why they are so important.

Re: Scenes from the Rocky Mountain Parks

Peter,

Good job. All of that ice makes for some dramatic scenery. I like the hanging valleys, cirques and aretes. The lakes up North are often aqua or turquoise from the glacial silt.  I just returned from WA state and saw a lot of similar country and clear weather.
