This short hike in Oregon's Three Sisters Wilderness was really no longer than a day-hike (4 or 5 trail miles and a short climb cross-country) but I made it into an overnighter. Remnants of last week's snow lingered in patches. The top of Cayuse Crater near my camp:

I clambered a little distance up the ridge toward Broken Top's south summit, and got a view of the Middle and North Sisters over some rocky outcrops.

I was feeling a little under the weather but the dog enjoyed himself as always. He's 10 years old but in excellent fettle for an old fella.

This shows southeast spires of Broken Top; the true summit is out of the picture to the left.
A storm is due in tonight (the 12th) and may herald the end of snow-free travel in the high country for the year.

Nice looking hike, reminds me of being in the Tetons.
