We started our day, leaving Maine at 4am. At about 7:30, we were the only people in the parking lot, and it was a toasty 9*F. Didn't end up needing the ropes on the way up - wanted to do some ice climbing, maybe belay a couple of pitches, but the ice was too new - kept breaking off in plates whenever we'd try to anchor or dig the ice axe in. Better safe then sorry, packs were light, only about 25lbs.

The falls, which we climbed beside for about a 1/2 mile, were absolutely beautiful

By 9am things were starting to warm up a bit, about 16*F, so it was time to peel back the layers

Views from the summit were great. No wind at all, clear day, unlimited visibility.

Glad you were able to make the trip, and that your friend came through as well! I hope to get into mountaineering someday, have a few other life goals to reach before I will have the time or money though :)
