Feet stayed dry! Stomping through puddles and mud and snow, socks dry as a bone! I am wowed by these trail shoes in more ways than one.
- Great traction
- No tie laces
- Reflectors on shoe
- Lightweight hiking shoe
- Easy lace system sometimes hard to loosen
I actually bought these shoes when I traded in my Merrell All out Blaze hiking shoes after 6 months. It was a day before a 4-night trip out in the Olympics. I needed a shoe, any shoe at that point because my arches were aching so badly from the Merrells.
I spotted these and tried a pair on. They fit so well and felt awesome! At first I had my doubts because they seemed to be built like a super stable trail runner shoe, not a heavy duty hiking shoe. I walked around the store for a few minutes contemplating the purchase. They felt so good on my already sore feet that I went for it.
When I arrived at the return counter the salesman said, "are you exchanging these Merrells for those?" I was like oh no, here it comes. He went on to state the obvious, that these were more like trail runners and not for carrying heavy loads. I stated that my pack was about 35 pounds for this trip and not considered crazy heavy for me and that I have not yet worn any boot while hiking. I have always worn low ankle hiking shoes. My ankles are strong so I'm going to try it.
With all that said, I ventured out to the High Divide/Seven Lakes Basin Trail starting at Sol Duc Falls. I started out late and hiked until dark. My feet felt great! I hiked swiftly along the trail hiking 6 1/2 miles to my first camp that evening. Feet felt great with no issues. The rest of the trip went great and feet had no issues.
I love the shoes! I bought the turquoise blue ones (only color in my size 8).
The best feature of these shoes is the no-tie laces! Easy to get on and off quickly, they have a single pull lace system that locks in, and has reflectors for night time hiking/walking.
Surprisingly the arch support in these shoes is much better than the previous Merrell shoes I traded in.
I hiked through over 4 miles of wet rocky and very rough terrain with the first trip wearing these shoes and the traction is amazing!
Waterproof true to advertisement my feet stayed dry.
Breathability true to advertisement my feet did not sweat in the shoe. (I wore Darn Tough socks)
Shoes are lightweight at 1lb 8oz.
This is my first pair of Adidas shoes ever and I would have never guessed I would be out hiking in Adidas shoes with all of the other quality names in hiking shoes out there today. I am pleasantly surprised with the performance of this shoe.
Since the initial hike wearing these shoes, I have put many more miles on them out on the trails and for everyday use. I still love them and plan on using them on my upcoming 211 mile thru hike. I will add an update in September commenting on how they measured up.
Note: These shoes are labeled for hiking in the specs section but they were placed in the trail running section of the store.
