Trail Designs Caldera Cone System

rated 4 of 5 stars You cannot beat this for performance. Only a Trangia offers greater stability. Its simplicity is genius. I have many alcohol stoves but this beats them all, though not hands down. Foremost, it out performs a Trangia for a fraction of the weight and for much less cost. Its simplicity in design and use mean it is extremely well suited to extended trips in more remote areas. No moving parts and its simple design mean there is very little to go wrong. It is an extremely stable system that eliminates… Full review

Evernew Ti DX Set With Stove

rated 3 of 5 stars Although lightweight and compact, it is over-engineered and inefficient. Limited with what it can do and unstable on uneven ground. I have a number of alcohol burners (including homemade can stoves) and whilst it is well made and has an eye catching design, it is very expensive for what it can do. There are much cheaper, simpler and more efficient ways to boil water.  Yes, it is very light, but for gram counters there is even lighter. Just the titanium burner with an Evernew trivet and a simple… Full review

Zelph's Stoveworks Fancee Feest

rated 5 of 5 stars This is the Zelph Stoveworks Fancee Feest alcohol stove. Best use is for re hydrating meals or making drinks that require boiled water only. There is a simmer option, but a modification of the pot stand must be done. I use it for boiling water only and with denatured alcohol as the fuel source. This is a Zelph Stoveworks Fancee Feest alcohol stove (http://www.woodgaz-stove.com/).  It is made from a cat food can with an additional metal inner liner.  The liner serves as a pot stand and holds the… Full review

Zelph's Stoveworks Venom Super Stove

rated 5 of 5 stars This is the Zelph Stoveworks Venom Energy alcohol stove. Best use is for re hydrating meals or making drinks that require boiled water only. There is no simmer option. This is a Zelph Stoveworks Venom Energy alcohol stove (http://www.woodgaz-stove.com/).  It is made from a Venom Energy drink can. Zelph has figured out a way to draw the can inwards on itself without deforming the aluminum. Pretty neat actually. Denatured alcohol or Heet can be used with this stove. These types of fuel can be found… Full review

Zelph's Stoveworks Modified Starlyte

rated 5 of 5 stars The Modified Starlyte alcohol stove from Zelph’s Stoves is a great stove mainly for water boil that is ultralight, very fuel efficient, and safe to use. It holds fuel inside of it and won't spill, and it comes with a plastic lid to seal it off and minimize fuel evaporation when not in use. This is a review of the Zelph’s Stoves Modified Starlyte alcohol stove. Zelph is a true “cottage” manufacturer, just one guy (Dan) who tinkers in his hobby shop to come up with mostly alcohol stoves and… Full review

Vargo Triad Alcohol Stove

rated 3.5 of 5 stars It works in the tropics where I backpack. Best for boiling water, but one has to be extra careful in putting the pot on the pot support or it will tip over. I love this stove. But it can only be appreciated by ultralight hikers who bring dehydrated and other add-water only types of food. Essentially, I use this for boiling water.  If one prepares food the old way, with lots of stirring and turning, better get something else. The pot, balanced on the three pot supports, can easily tip over… Full review

Trangia Mini Trangia

rated 4 of 5 stars I use a Liberty Mountain pot stand and a small wind screen from Amazon that is 5'' high. The reason for my type of pot stand is that I can adjust the simmer ring a whole lot easier. It is just a GREAT cook set. Sometimes, for fun, I will use my Svea 123R stove, which works well also, but is heavy and uses white gas (Coleman fuel), but I always go back to the Trangia. Great stove ... seems that I wrote my review in the summary. Nothing else to add. Full review

Vargo Triad Alcohol Stove

rated 5 of 5 stars Once mastered it is a truly amazing device. Learning curve ahead if you have no experience with ethanol powered stoves. They are not for everyone! Amazing stove design in that for about 1 ounce of weight and the size of a silver dollar, you can boil water quickly to make a meal or for other uses on a very small amount of fuel. This is the most efficient stove I have ever tested. CAUTION: Alcohol stoves require a degree of attention, focus, and learning curve that are unique to the fuel.  Mastery… Full review

Trangia Mini Trangia

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Lightweight and compact, fuel is cheap, but stove is illegal to use. I was new to ultralight backpacking, so I bought this as my very first camping stove. It was lightweight, minimalist, and the fuel was super cheap. I used it for six or so camping and backpacking trips. My biggest complaints then were fuel inefficiency and fire hazard. (I had to remember to bring foil or something else to make a windscreen with or the flame was out of control when windy.) Then, I learned it was illegal in many… Full review
