Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars

Fill: Dupont Hollofil II
Temperature Rating: 20 degrees F
Weight: 4lbs 6ozs.
Price Paid: $99.99

I purchased this fine Mummy Bag to replace my worn out LL Bean Knife Edge Model and so far nothing but praise for this Bag from ALPS Mountaineering. Last Winter I actually used the Bag to it's 20 degree limit and I wasn't even cold! The Hollofil II Insulation works as well as the more expensive (and popular) Polarguard fills. I can't tell a difference! The Silver Springs fits me perfect and I really appreciate the wide (but not too wide to lose it's insulating capabilities) cut at the shoulders (34 inches in the long version) that fits my wide shoulders without the usual "cramping" I found in other Mummy Bags. My only complaint is the zipper that tends to get caught in the so-called "anti-snag" nylon stip that runs the full length of the zipper. Other than this, the Bag is perfect! My opinion is: why spend twice as much for those "big name" brand mummies when one can get a decent performing mummy bag from a reputable (but little known) Company from ALPS Mountaineering!

This is a great bag from ALPS Mountaineering that…

Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars
Design: Mummy
Fill: DuPont (R) Holo Fill II
Temperature Rating: 20 deg.
Weight: 4 +/- lbs.
Price Paid: $90 +/-

This is a great bag from ALPS Mountaineering that I bought about 3-4 years ago and I still use. The fill is Holo Fill II, which compresses well, wicks away moisture, and is nice and warm. The bag is made of a durable Tafetta with YKK #8 dual venting zippers (internal and external pull tabs) which rarely jam. There is a pocket on the top which is handy for glasses or a travel alarm. The mummy hood is a nice size and the drawstring divider keeps warm air inside. I find that the foot section tends to get chilli in cold weather though.

It comes with a 200d Oxford compression sack that is nicely designed. Instead of pulling on the side of the sack, the compression straps go all the way around the top of the sack, putting no stress on stitching. However I wish they would throw in the nice packcloth bags.

Overall a great bag for moderate temperatures. Great durability and value. It is one of my most versatile bags.
