Altberg Tethera

rated 5.0 of 5 stars
photo: Altberg Tethera hiking boot

Quite simply the best boots I have owned, and that's quite a few pairs over 40 years of hill-walking. Nothing lasts more than around 4 years, these look like they will last forever!

Best for: Any hill walking in the UK except possibly high level winter walking.

Pros

  • Multi-fit options
  • Strong leather uppers
  • UK made
  • Waterproof

Cons

  • Little stiff at first

Expertly fitted—they come in about six widths and every half size known to man. There's no guesswork involved and zero wearing in, even though as a tough all leather boot they did seem a little stiff at first. No rubbing, no chafing, just warm, dry happy feet :)

Fitted with a choice of three arch supports which are fitted according to your own foot needs.

Very supportive ankle too, Vibram soles and superb grip on all the terrain I have met so far—Lakes fells, Dales etc

If you're in the North, buy them at Whalley Warm and Dry. They even make you a coffee!!
