User Review: Arc'teryx Men's Hyllus Jacket (Hercules)
Rating: ![]()
Source: bought it new
Price Paid: $150
Summary
Thick fleece with wind resistance, perfect for a day on the slopes and a walk around Whistler village. I own the "Hercules" which is the same jacket in an older flavor.
Pros
- Wind resistance
- Warmth
- Looks
Cons
- Thickness
Con: The thickness of the jacket can be a little restrictive. Probably not the best idea for climbing, but great for skiing.
Pros: Everything else. Warm, sometimes too warm of a jacket. Warmth is comparable to Mountain Hardwear's Monkey Man, but this has added wind resistance and none of the "wow, that's a fuzzy jacket." The wind resistance is good, but only up to about 35 mph winds. Riding on my scooter, it starts to get me at about 35MPH. That's how I came up with that number.
Fit: OK. 7/10. Mostly a style jacket.
Water resistance: 6/10. The DWR doesnt last long, but it keeps you warmer when you are wet.
Breathability: 7/10
Warmth: 8/10
Layering: Not much room underneath, and it might be silly to put something on top of it.
Abrasion: Very durable for an insulated "soft shell".
