User Review: Asolo AFS Expedition
Rating: ![]()
Materials: plastic
Use: high altitude mountaineering and ice climbing
Break-in Period: you can't break in plastic boots
Weight: 6 lbs
Price Paid: $165 on sale, $450 regular
I have been using these boots for one year doing some vertical ice climbing and some ice and snow style mountaineering. The boots have the best ankle support imaginable, they are very robust and reliable. The inserts are also pretty good. Even though the boots are very stiff, you can use them in walking/hiking regime if you don't tie them tightly. I didn't have any problems after five days of walking in them. Boots are warm and as comfortable as plastic boots can be. The only improvement I would suggest is to make inserts tying. (Now they only have velcro on the top.)
