User Review: Asolo Women's Forclaz
Materials: Nubuck upper/ Cambrell Lining
Use: rough trail w/heavy pack
Break-in Period: Several hikes
Weight: 2lbs 14oz
Purchased this boot and so did two other girlfriends, since it is such a bargain price. The sizes are true to size. We all found and great for a mid to wider foot. The upper material is fairly abrasion-resistant, however it is missing a rubber toe cap to make it more moisture resistant. Even in hiking in dew for a short period moisture penetrated at the toes even after a treatment with water repellent. The support of ankles and arches is great on this boot and after some break-in time of several hikes it is quiet comfortable when carrying a 35 lbs load plus load.
However, things will get a bit steamy in this boot, hiking in the Southwest. This is a boot good for cooler and try climate or early spring or fall outings with limited moisture. Gore-tex lining could improve this boot by a few stars by making it breathable and more water-resistant! The vibram outsole is sturdy and grippy except on wet logs or wet boulders.
