Summary

Very disappointed...

Pros

  • Design

Cons

  • Useless

After one hiking trip both soles delaminated :( I regret I haven't read the forum before I bought them. I'll try to solve the problem at the Asolo company. Hopefully I will be able to give them 5 star for cooperation...

Summary

Good looks, technical inferiority.

Pros

  • Looks
  • Fit

Cons

  • Soles are weak!

The boots look great and they performed well on the first two hiking trips I took (wore them a total of 10 times). Then, both soles delaminated! Since the boots are over one year old they are out of warranty and Asolo would not help with the repair/replacement. Not what I expect for a $225 price tag. This is a grand example of good looks but technical inferiority.

Summary

This hiking boot is lightweight but durable. It is a great boot for woods or rocky hikes. Recommended for long hikes or day. Good if have limited time to break a boot in.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Waterproof
  • Heel comfort
  • Durable

Cons

  • Could possibly use slightly deeper treads.

New to hiking on a consistent basis since 2009, the Asolo boot was recommended to me as little to no time was needed to break the boot in. The heel comfort is amazing and I have never had a hot spot there.

They are lightweight, waterproof, and give fantastic ankle support. They have reliable traction on the rocks of Katahdin or the slippery rocks in a streambed. The boot is also warm in winter for snowshoeing. The lacings are set in place so there's no fumbling to tie.

Another great feature is that if I did get any water into the boot directly, they were quick drying. I wear short gators so rocks in the boot have never been an issue. The Asolo boot is also available online at VERY reasonable prices.Though some companies offer "lifetime" trade-ins on products, even boots, I wouldn't trade the comfort of the Asolo for the free trade-in.
