Mystery Ranch Wet Rib

rated 5 of 5 stars Puts your water where you can get to it often and easily, along with a map, sunblock, glasses, and other things you want close at hand. In wilderness first aid training we are taught to assume anyone in the wilderness is dehydrated, even if there is water all around in streams and ponds and the person is carrying water. Even with in-pack hydration it can be hard to drink enough because sucking on a tube causes a walker to lose his breath and stop drinking too early, and bottles carried elsewhere… Full review

Mystery Ranch Wet Rib

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Highly recommend for winter hikes. If you don't like to take off and put on your pack through the day, this backpack accessory is the ticket. I use this mainly for winter hikes where you don't want to fuss with taking your pack off and on. In the winter I want to keep moving and stay warm, this accessory allows me to do that with storage for my map, compass, mittens, snacks and medication. The zippers work great although I did add MSR Universal Reflective Zippers for easier grip with mittens. As… Full review

Pelican 1040 Micro Case

rated 5 of 5 stars A very durable small package case to carry money, keys, wallet, identification, licences, medication, etc. Including a great case for a mini first aid case. Locks shut tight, no water, dirt, or dust intrusion, keeps everything clean and dry... Always. As an avid outdoorsman in all weather and nature conditions, I play with land, water conditions all the time. If I'm not on the water paddling a lake or stream, then I'm on the trails backpacking or riding my ATV getting muddy or dusty. But no matter,… Full review

Gossamer Gear Spinnaker G-Storage Sacks

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Lightweight organization. Ah the glamorous world of stuff sacks... Picked these up on the clearance section of Gossamer Gear's website on a whim while I was buying a Thinlight 1/8 pad.  I bought all three, though there are now only two varieties on the site, the G-Ditty, which is a small, zippered pouch that I'm using as a ridge line organizer for a Dutchware 11ft Single, and the G-Flat, which I'm currently using for food storage. The G-Stow, which has a rounded bottom and which I use for clothes,… Full review

DIY: My Own Trash Bag Solution

rated 5 of 5 stars Pack in. Pack out. Any responsible outdoor person does it. But nobody likes a bulky, smelly trash bag that may get pierced inside their backpacks. I decided it was time to figure out something better: combine 1 4-liter dry sack, 1 small trash bag, 1 small roll of tape. Enough for two persons on a 6-day trek. What you need While preparing for walking the Overland Track with my daughter last November, I found myself trying to choose between a relatively heavy, large, and durable trash bag and a super… Full review

Advanced Elements CargoPak

rated 5 of 5 stars The CargoPak is a tough drybag with good shoulder straps so it can be worn as a backpack. It is well-made from tough materials. Not only kayakers and canoeists will use this drybag, but also hikers and campers in a rainy climate. A brand-new CargoPak arrived from Advanced Elements for me at Christmas time. Wow! This drybag is fitted with decent shoulder straps, making it a rain-proof backpack as well as a kayaking drybag. The stitching is good and solid, with sealed seams. I've never had a drybag… Full review

Kelty Compression Stuff Sacks

rated 4 of 5 stars I use the large for my Alps Crescent Lake 20 sleeping bag. It's a good sack, as it's pretty durable. The straps put up to a lot of pulling and pushing. The sack doesn't keep its form super well, but careful stuffing helps to alleviate that. When not in use, the stuff sack can be packed into a small pocket on its lid and then clipped to your pack. Nice touch. Only downside is the sack is not waterproof, but it doesn't claim to be or anything. Full review

Patagonia Black Hole Duffel

rated 5 of 5 stars Patagonia's Black Hole Duffel line has 4 sizes, 45L, 60L, 90L and 120L. All are made from a durable water resistant fabric which can take a beating. I have the 60L size which is perfect for hauling around a ton of gear while still being carry-on size. Likes Size/Shape: The 60L duffel is just within carry-on size limits. With a little coaxing, I've gotten it to fit into even the smaller overhead compartments. For carrying gear on a plane, a duffel bag has advantages over a backpack in that it doesn't… Full review

Outdoor Products Smartphone Watertight Case

rated 2 of 5 stars Storage case to protect your cell phone from water and damage while backpacking. This was purchased for me as a gift. The idea behind it is great, however, it's bulky and hard to open and close. I clipped it to my pack and found it to slam back and forth all over the place while hiking. It added more weight than I wanted for a protective cover. The two closures are not easy to open up or snap closed. Full review
