Helinox Cot One

rated 4.5 of 5 stars
photo: Helinox Cot One cot

Lightweight, capable cot made of quality material.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Good weight capacity
  • Strong material

Cons

  • Requires some effort to assemble
  • Carrying case is not water tight

After spending some time basically living in the mud during Hurricane Maria response, I opted to never sleep making direct contact with the ground. I decided a cot is what I needed. This being the case, I chose the Helinox Cot One and could not be happier, nor can I sleep any sounder.

First off, the thing is extremely lightweight, coming in at just 2 lbs. 9.6 oz. Its dimensions make it a perfect fit for vertical attachment to my bugout bag and once assembled fits like glove inside my solo tent. Secondly, it’s got a great carrying capacity, capable of maintaining a 250# individual with no issues, a surprise considering how compact the entire thing is.

My only issues with this cot is it takes a bit of effort to assemble. In order to attach the ground supports to the cot, one has to slightly bend the aluminum poles and attach them onto the cot‘s lengthwise supports. If one is not careful, one can possibly pinch some skin. In addition, the carrying case/sac is not water tight. The manufacturer could have easily made the top portion a roll type closure rather than a drawcord.

Overall, I would recommended this cot to anyone who wants a lightweight cot and a good night’s sleep.

Price Paid: $199.99

Lightweight (about 2kg) and most easy installation under 1.5 min with good design.
Only the price is slightly high.

Pros

  • Lightest and easy to install

Cons

  • The price

I'd been looking for a light and easy cot and found two of all. They were the Helinox Cot 1 and Therm-a-Rest ultralight Cot. I gave my choice to the Helinox Cot 1 because it needs really fewer motions of setting up than the Ultralite cot and more reliabilities from their DAC pole.
