Flexible device, can use both the smooth and ridged sides. The smooth side has the same feel as the original ATC (which performs excellent). The ridged side however is a bit too much friction for me.

Don't get me wrong, the friction/ridged side is a good idea, but it somehow lost the smoothness that everyone enjoyed from the classic ATC.

I have a nine and eleven year old who easily learned how to use this to belay each other and rappel with 10.2mm rope. What else can I say. Simple, easy, rugged, inexpensive.
