User Review: Brunton Flex Foldable Canister Stove

Rating: rated 4.5 of 5 stars
Price Paid: dunno (over $50)

The light weight and larger flame ring of the FLEX sold me. I got the Brunton FLEX , made by Optimus, over the Optimus CRUX because the FLEX had 4 pot supports and reports that it was a snugger, non-wobble fit when unfolded for cooking than the CRUX version.

It's a great stove for having a more diffused heat that avoids hot spots. I put a very thin film of synthetic motor oil on the sliding collar shaft to prevent wear and keep the tight fit. Synthetic oil has a very high heat tolerance.

This burner weighs only 0.7 oz. more than my very light Vargo Jet-Ti burner. If you cook - not just boil water - with titanium pots you NEED this stove to avoid hot spots and burning food. Personally I feel titanium is way overrated. Just sayin'...
