Campmor Camp-Tech Parka

rated 1.5 of 5 stars

The Camp-Tech Parka has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best waterproof jackets for 2024.

The jacket had nice features and was fairly lightweight, for a terrific price. The fabric has no DWR finish that I can see. The workmanship was poor -- seams at the edge of the mesh lining were already pulling apart in both the pants (pocket) and jacket (back lining) within days. The coating wore off the base of the neck on the jacket after a year. The store refunded my $ for this -- kudos for that -- saying there was a bad batch. But the lower inside leg of the pants followed suit shortly thereafter. I've moved up to pricier coatings. And real Gore-Tex.

Fabric: Camp-Tech B/W coating
Price Paid: $90

Version reviewed: Parka

Classic example of "you-get-what-you-pay-for". Jacket leaks horribly after relatively few trips. Packstrap wear caused leaked almost right away. Hood/neck juncture is not well designed, and rarely stays sealed. Mesh lining seems too big for jacket and snags on everything. I should have returned it but now the 1 year warranty is out. I am dumping this and am investing in a 3L Gore garment, most likely the Marmot T-lite.

Fabric: Camp Tech (proprietary?)
Price Paid: < $100
