I decided after hearing about CCW online from a few East Coasters to call up Randy at CCW. Super friendly and very easy to do business with. I wanted a Chernobyl based on cubic inches of my last pack. After a few days the pack showed up well packed. I bought this backpack to fill a particular need - winter summit bag. i wanted a large frameless daypack, simple construction that can withstand heavy abuse, not too heavy, capable of taking what i need to the top and back. it has turned out to be a really nice large daypack for regular use. rated 5 of 5 stars Though I have newer pack(s), the CCW Valdez is my baby. In my six years of fortunate ownership it has stood up like iron. I've used it for six summers leading trail crews in the White Mountains (the 80 pounds mentioned above was two boxes of galvanized 8-inch steel spikes), six winters climbing ice, and assorted rock climbing trips thither and yon.
