Eureka! SPRK Camp Stove

user rating: 5 of 5 (1 review)

Compact, lightweight, and reliable butane camp stove. The neat easy to carry case and easy setup makes cooking anywhere a pleasure! The hatch of my SUV worked great during a three-day in Death Valley NP. The small 8oz. butane containers required aren't expensive, and I used less than one all three days, and butane can be used indoors during inclement weather. Can't find any fault with this one!

Reasons to Buy

  • Butane is safe and inexpensive
  • Easy and clean transport in its own case
  • Lightweight
  • Reliable ignition, heats quickly

Reasons to Avoid

  • Single burner not good for large group
  • Lightweight, but still probably too heavy/large for backpacking

Until I purchased this stove, I cooked solely over a campfire. With the increasing fire danger and campfire restrictions, relying on a campfire to eat is impractical. This Eureka! SPRK, after much research, seemed to provide for all my needs. Small and relatively lightweight and in its own case, it's easy to pack, and isn't too heavy for any short backpacking trip; probably too much for a longer trek where space and weight are premium. On a three-day winter trip to Death Valley and a long weekend in the Owens Valley this spring I was able to cook breakfast burritos while waiting on sunrise at Panamint Dunes, fried up the first trout caught for a late lunch, using the hatch of my SUV while parked along side the Owens River, and made a grilled...

Camp Chef Everest 2-Burner Camp Stove

user rating: 5 of 5 (2 reviews)

Great stove, excellent build quality. Nice even heating. Great car camping stove.

Reasons to Buy

  • Super easy to set up
  • Lights instantly
  • High BTUs

Reasons to Avoid

  • Heavy, car camping only

I purchased this stove to replace an older Coleman model that I had, and I have to say I am glad I did. This stove is perfect for car camping, in fact I even purchased an extension hose and use it on the side of my Coleman Pop Up camper as an external stove. It works amazing! The burners light instantly, they provide nice even heat, and they are adjustable from a slow simmer all the way up to 'instant charcoal'. This stove has two burners that each put out 20,000 BTU. It has a nice stainless steel drip tray which makes cleanup a breeze.    I have used this stove on several occasions, including a cross-country trip with my popup to the Grand Canyon.

Jetboil Genesis Basecamp Stove

user rating: 4.5 of 5 (1 review)

I purchased this stove in early 2020 thinking I would use it in summer of 2020. Sadly that didn't happen due to the virus messing up plans. But, this fall 2021 I finally was able to use while I was in the USA on vacation and it performed better than any other larger camp stove I have ever owned! The compact style, the two burners, and the simmer were all as advertised! Making this stove my only future stove in my camping arsenal! Anyone want a Coleman? Really!

Reasons to Buy

  • Compact
  • Two burners
  • A working simmer function

Reasons to Avoid

  • Not a backpacking stove!

In a perfect world this stove would weigh 2 oz and be perfect for backpacking with all the functions it has. Sadly it is not, but as far as a perfect campground stove I would say, pay the money and purchase the best! There is nothing more frustrating than burning food you have packed for a nice camping trip and having to toss it out or eat it burned with the lack of simmer control. I have owned a number of name brand camp stoves in my many years and this is the best I have ever found! I spent my early stimulus check on this stove as JetBoil is a Wisconsin company and I loved their other smaller JetBoil stove so much I purchased two, one for in the states and one for here in Europe! That has been an excellent investment and now I know this was...

Coleman Dual Fuel 2-Burner Stove

user rating: 4 of 5 (3 reviews)

Great family camping stove. Reliable in all weather conditions.

Reasons to Buy

  • Rugged construction
  • Great cooking space
  • Easy to transport
  • Gets hot quickly
  • Versatile for cooking all kinds of meal
  • Works great in cold temperatures

Reasons to Avoid

  • Needs clean fuel
  • Sometimes stubborn to get blue flame

What's not to love about these great American-made stoves? My family used this stove for about 8 years in all kinds of weather and as a backup for power outages. It's shown no signs of failing despite our somewhat rough handling. It's a great theory to think you're going to cook on an open fire until you're hit with the inevitable snow or rain. Although stubborn at times, it always fires up regardless of the weather and cooks great with minimal effort. We find this model superior for car camping due to its size and use of Coleman fuel.

Coleman PerfectFlow InstaStart Fold N Go 2-Burner Stove

user rating: 4 of 5 (2 reviews)

The Coleman Fold-n-Go stove is a compact, highly packable stove that performs, and manages to be pretty good at it.

Reasons to Buy

  • Plenty of heat
  • Fuel efficient
  • Compact storage

Reasons to Avoid

  • No windscreen
  • Potstands have high standoff from burners
  • Not heavy, but not light.

A forenote: I've owned mine for nearly eight years now. i've used it quite a bit over that time in a number of different weather/environment conditions.  The stove sets up fast. pull it from its carry-case, undo the latch, unfold. if necessary, adjust the pot-holders in their mounting position(they're spring-loaded friction fit, and surprisingly secure- they take me being not gentle with cast iron pans without popping out). the feed-line(a hard-line unit with a built-in regulator) goes in quick and easy.  The stove starts easier than most.

Camp Chef Ranger Two-Burner Stove

user rating: 4.5 of 5 (1 review)

This is an excellent car glamping stove for the chef.

Reasons to Buy

  • Ample heat
  • Simple to use
  • Good burner controls

Reasons to Avoid

  • Subject to wind
  • Storeage/packability is combersome
  • Separet fuel bottle
  • No stove levelers

I've used this stove for three seasons now and am well pleased with its performance. I bought it so I could cook outside my Scamp travel trailer and now almost exclusively cook outside using this stove.   I found the two burners to provide ample heat for cooking on a griddle or on separate skillets. The burn controls provide burner control for a simmer or a quick boil. However, like all open burner stoves, it is subject to wind. One nice feature is the spark starter for the burners.  The setup is fairly easy.

Eureka! Ignite Camp Stove

user rating: 4 of 5 (1 review)

A good all-around stove for car camping. It's easy to set up and has features that make it easy to use. We take it camping and it does well cooking for our family of four.

Reasons to Buy

  • Igniter, simmer control, and 10,000 Btu burner are great.
  • It's more compact than other similar stoves—good for packing.

Reasons to Avoid

  • Pricier than what we were coming from (Ozark Trail? unbranded?) at about 3x cost.
  • Hard gas line requires extra table space
  • It's more compact than other similar stoves—we can't fit our big pan on with most other things.

Midway through a camping road trip our prior camp stove gave up, and we scoured high and low for a replacement, finding the last one available—the Eurekea Ignite. We're usually budget campers, and this was a higher quality and higher price point than our typical gear purchase, although it's certainly not the most expensive two-burner you can buy. Here's what we love about moving up to the Ignite, and why we won't be going back to whatever the lowest price big box store stove is. First, we love the simmer control.

Coleman Classic 2-Burner Stove

user rating: 4.5 of 5 (2 reviews)

You can still find the oldies but goodies at yard sales, the classifieds, or on eBay, so when you find one snatch it up!

Reasons to Buy

  • Durable
  • Reliable
  • Easy maintenance
  • Easy to use
  • Works at any temperature
  • Just like your gas range at home

Reasons to Avoid

  • Classic is no longer manufactured
  • Bulky
  • Heavy

My stove was purchased new by my father well before I was born. My dad is no longer living and I'm 50 years old, but my stove is still going strong. I have no doubt it will outlive me. The old Coleman classic stoves were built to last...and last...and last. With minimal maintenance it will become an heirloom passed down from generation to generation. I can't imagine car camping without my old Coleman stove. It's easy to prime and light and cooks as well as any gas range. Its cooking area will easily accommodate a medium sized fry pan and a 2-quart pot.

Coleman PerfectFlow Grill Stove

user rating: 4.5 of 5 (2 reviews)

Great 'car camping' stove. Offers the versatility of a burner for a pot of joe plus a grill for cooking a burger.

Reasons to Buy

  • Quick to light
  • Even continuous gas flow for even heating
  • Grease trap for easier cleanup

Reasons to Avoid

  • Bulky
  • Gas controls not easy to fine tune. Either High or Low

I purchased this stove to replace my old Coleman stove that had seen the end of its useful life. I liked the idea with this stove that you have both a burner and a grill/griddle. This unit is typical of all of Coleman's previous stoves, the top is held up by two side wings, which can act as either a small lightweight shelf (I never use it this way) or a windscreen. Setup is easy, open the lid, unpack the regulator and screw it onto the stove and the gas bottle. The stove has a button to create a spark for an 'instant light' and I have to say it usually works on the first push.
