Sierra Designs Lookout

rated 4 of 5 stars Perfect for motorcycle, snowmobile, sled, and canoe camping. Setup is easy—two straight poles, grommet front and back and do the same with the other two arched poles on each side of the body, cross them at the back and use the clip with the little bungee cord to lock them together at the X. Then start clipping on the clips. Start at the middle of each pole and work your way around. Arch pole, put it in one grommet on one side hold onto the pole, bring it around to the other grommet on the other… Full review

Sierra Designs Lookout

rated 4.5 of 5 stars All in all, this is a true workhorse of a tent. It's suitable for all weather conditions, it's spacious, durable, and lightweight. A few personal preferences that they could have done differently, but overall I give it a 9/10...because nobody's perfect. Haha! Setup 9/10: Without instructions, it took a couple tries to figure out the poles the first time. Otherwise, setup was a breeze. The poles attach to the tent exclusively with grommets and clips, so there aren't any annoying sleeves to deal with. Full review

Sierra Designs Lookout

rated 4 of 5 stars Had my Lookout since 1996. Lots of use for backcountry paddling and backpacking. The Lookout has served me well in the 22 seasons I have owned it. A slightly crooked pole hasn't stopped this tent from performing. I gave it a bath a couple seasons ago and it was DIRTY!! but still holding strong from weather of all kinds. I have actually used this as a 4-season tent. From deep snow and cold to hot and humid. You don't want to stay in too long in the sun as it heats up quite quickly with the fly on. Full review

Tarptent Moment DW

rated 5 of 5 stars A lightweight one-person tent that is easy to set up, takes up minimal space, and gives an easy drumtight pitch. Setup:  This tent is incredibly easy to set up. Stake one end, insert the main hoop pole, stake the other end, and tighten the guylines. I can set this up alone in less than two minutes after I find a spot. The design takes up relatively little space, and I was able to slip it into spots on the Appalachian Trail that might not have accommodated some other tents. Stability:  This design… Full review

Marmot Swallow 2P

rated 5 of 5 stars I have had this tent since 2002. I have to say it has lasted better than any tent I know of. I have about 100 days in this tent and it has backpacked and car camped everywhere in the PNW. I think the tents you can get now are better with material and weight, but I returned a Mountain Hardwear tent I got as a replacement because it wasn't good enough. Pitch it quick in a puddle of mud and pick it up in two days without getting wet. I am serious. I camped at the Oregon coast numerous times and stayed… Full review

SlingFin CrossBow 2 StormPak

rated 4 of 5 stars The StormPak is the bare bones configuration of the CrossBow 2 series tent that minimizes weight, yet still has the strength to stand up to virtually any weather! This single-wall mesh free setup is waterproof, comfortable for two people and ALL OF THEIR GEAR, and is suitable for any kind of three-season use. Although SlingFin may be a relatively new name to the tent world, the crew on board has more collective experience than most well established companies. It is clear that they have paid very… Full review

REI Arete ASL 2 Tent

rated 4 of 5 stars Nice tent for the weight, but a little on the thin side. The fabric is just OK and not as durable as high end tents... however the weight is saved. Overall worth the money. Lightweight, pretty durable, good quality, and REI one-year warranty. The cheap stakes (not enough) and guy ropes are a joke. I replaced them immediately. Using the vestibule entrance with two people is a pain because it's small. Nice that it has plenty of room inside for two and the packed size and weight are worth the money. Full review

Mountain Hardwear Skyview 3

rated 5 of 5 stars Best tent by far I've owned. I bought this 20 years ago and still use it. I recently had it on my last weeklong camp trip and I was the only one who stayed bone dry. It's been in 80 mph wind, 18 inches of snow in 12 hours, torrential rain for 3 days straight, and anything else you can throw at it. You can't beat this tent. Zip it up tight for winter or zip out the ceiling for summer. I can't say enough good about it. Full review

The North Face Stratos

rated 5 of 5 stars No leaks or wear visible after 18 years, 2-3 trips per year. Once slept 5 (2 shorter adults in middle of 4; slimmest lying at 90 degrees with hip and shoulder in space yielded this way). Four could backpack fine at ave of 1.2kg (2.5lbs) each. Love this—would buy again. Baking hot, snow, hiking, car booting, campsite, wild camping... all accomplished with ease. Anyone who says too heavy, note you can sleep four, unless all large, even five average adults at a squeeze, by moving all kitbags into… Full review
