Stanley Mountain Vacuum Coffee System

rated 5 of 5 stars Makes fine coffee in a compact unit workable in a domestic setting or campground, but a tad heavy for a long back pack My unit is ow in use as my regular coffee maker.  I will use it in the same manner on camp ing trips and possibly on back packs where weight is not a big deal. The brewing pot and press surround a vacuum bottle which has tricked out lid assembly with two plastic drinking cups and a container which can hold coffee grounds for about two brews or sugar ad creamer packets.  All in… Full review

Ozark Trail 3-Piece Cook Set

rated 4 of 5 stars This is an excellent set for two campers (or solo if you take the smaller pot). The quality is a smidgen below that of Stanley, but the price is amazing—$10 for two pots and lid. This is a great set for car camping. The pots and lid are study and well-made. Quality-wise, it may be a bit less than Stanley or GSI but at $10 for the set, it is well worth it. If I can change anything, I would recommend that Ozark Trail get rid of the plastic coating on the handles. This would allow the pots to be… Full review

Primus Eta Pot

rated 4 of 5 stars Very efficient but slightly outdated pot. Consider purchasing the newer Primetech model which is slightly better. This is an older version of the modern Primetech Pot. The only differences are lack of non-slip base and basic handle with silicone cover. In my opinion, neither of these features are worth creating a “new" product, so these pots are almost the same. Please, refer to my Primetech Pot review for more detailed information. Full review

Primus PrimeTech Pot 1.8L

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great fuel efficiency and cooking speed at a cost of increased bulkiness and weight. The Primetech pot is a direct replacement to older ETA Pot of 2nd generation with only a few improvements: no-slip texture on the base, slightly better proprietary handles with lock feature. In summer 2016 I purchased two Primus Primetech pots (1.0 and 1.8L), but due to seller error I had to send back the smaller one and purchase an older 1.0L ETA model in local store. They are almost the same. Both Primus pots… Full review

GSI Outdoors Halulite Microdualist Complete

rated 4 of 5 stars Complete cooking and eating system, including canister stove, 1.4L pot with cup, bowl, and foon for two. Small enough to carry on solo trips, yet big enough to use on family trips with more than two, this kit is best for a group of two who want a complete system. Includes heat/wind shield for stove for real world use. 1 Water pail 2 Pot 3 Lid 4 Wind shield 5 Heat shield 6 Pinnacle stove 7 Foons 8 Bowls 9 Cups 10 Cup lids The word complete was aptly applied when they named this kit. Other than food… Full review

Hydro Flask 18 oz Wide Mouth Bottle

rated 1.5 of 5 stars Works well, but only when it works... I bought a Hydro Flask for the purpose of having a hot beverage with me on winter hikes. Initially, it worked well. My drinks were often so hot I could barely drink them. Less than one year after purchasing the Hydro Flask, I was up on Mt Jackson in 0 degree temps and the lid wouldn't open. I finally got it open and my drink seemed okay. I went to use it the next day on a long snowshoeing hike and when I tried to open it, it refused to open. My husband finally… Full review

Snow Peak Titanium Mini Solo

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Would be great if it had a polished finish instead of a porous one. I think I like my GSI Halulite Minimalist better, despite the significant weight difference. The features of the lid, cozy and pot gripper steal the show for me. I just wish it was made of titanium instead of anodized aluminum. This would be more of a competitor if it wasn't such a pain to keep clean. Too many crevices, and a micro bead blasted finish to hold onto old food.  Full review

Light My Fire Spork

rated 1.5 of 5 stars I've owned three of these (bought one and received two as gifts). All three broke at some point. This is one of the pieces of gear that I always see in stores and am always tempted to buy because it's not priced high at all and seems very practical — but every one that I've owned has broken, and so have many of the ones that my friends have owned. And each time I'm on a camping trip and one of these breaks, we all talk about why we just didn't bring a disposable plastic fork or spoon with us (you… Full review

Optimus Heat Insulation Pouch

rated 4 of 5 stars Food warmer, hand warmer — how could you miss? A few years ago I gave up actually cooking on the trail. Switched to what some call freezer bag meals. I mix my dry (and sometimes fresh) ingredients at home, dump them in a freezer bag. In camp just add the appropriate amount of boiling water and let it rehydrate. Being a tinkerer I made an insulation pouch out of a piece of insulated duct wrap, and used it for quite some time. I had to be careful with it though. It was slippery to hold on to while… Full review
