Jetboil Coffee Press

rated 1 of 5 stars Pretty disappointed with this and I won't be taking it on the trail anymore. I'm a coffee snob and drink it daily. I've used VIA packs for years and it looks like I'll stick to them.   The grips on the sides of the pot are insufficient, so too many grounds make it into the coffee. Cleanup on the trail takes far too much water and makes a mess of a handkerchief or requires a paper towel.  Don't waste your time on this. Stick with instant.   Full review

Toaks Titanium 450ml Mug

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Good enough for the girls I go with. Not a Snow Peak, but the price isn't either. This mug has been in daily use since January 2017 and has been serving me well. My first impression when I pulled it out of the box, and for whatever reason squeezed the mug, was it seemed more flexible than I remember the Snow Peak mugs being. The next thing I noticed was 450ml really means around 420ml, but the rolled lip makes it very hard to move it around full so somewhere around 375-400ml is about what it holds. Full review

Sea to Summit Spork

rated 5 of 5 stars Better than a spork. Summary: This thing gets almost everything right: it is cheap, lightweight, durable, does what it is supposed to and does it well. Price: $AU 1.50, say $US 1. Weight: 12g (0.4 oz) Convenience: The thing I really hate about normal double ended sporks is that when you change ends you get food on your hand from the end you were just using. This one has everything at one end so you do forking, spooning, and cutting without changing ends. It does not have a serrated cutting edge,… Full review

Light My Fire Spork Titanium

rated 5 of 5 stars A great example of "Penny wise, pound foolish." I think when a lot of people get in to camping and backpacking the prices make them blink. "14 bucks for a freaking spoon? I'll grab a couple of these plastics ones for 5 bucks." And then the spoons break so they buy more. If they get in to it, eventually they start seeing the wisdom in spending the money to "buy it once." If you're researching sporks this is the one to buy. Once. Less than an ounce, rock solid, perfect form, cleans easily, and unless… Full review

GSI Outdoors Infinity Insulated Mug

rated 4 of 5 stars Figured I would review the updated version... I'm reviewing the updated model (the one pictured by Trailspace, mine is in the sink...or in the car. I don't know).  I wanted something to keep drinks hot and to keep bugs out of it!  It's actually done more than just those two things and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised:) Firstly for those not understanding how steam and pressure works—vent the mug as soon as you add hot fluids to it. Just like with anything else when heat builds up it… Full review

Snow Peak Titanium Trek 900

rated 4 of 5 stars I would simply suggest this for those of us keeping it lightweight, healthy, AND happy with HOT meals/drinks! I typically trek solo and consider myself a lightweight hiker with a baseweight ranging somewhere between 7-10lbs depending on the trip. I usually used an AlpKit titanium 750 mug with lid, DIY cozy, Caldera cone with a Mega Starlyte for fuel economy. Of course the challenge presented with someone like me was I like food, good hot scrumptious food and coffee and tea...list goes on.   So… Full review

Sea to Summit X-Pan

rated 5 of 5 stars We bought this pan to supplement the Sea to Summit X-Pot 2.8 L pot which I reviewed here in July of 2015; the X-Pot is great, but the base area is a bit small for cooking larger items. The X-Pan is a great addition to our canoe and car camping cookset. The Pot nests right inside the Pan, and the Pan has proven to cook items such as grilled breads, French Toast, and scrambled eggs beautifully, with easy cleanup! This is an 8-inch pan, with edges that are raised approx. 1.25 inches. The pan is sturdy,… Full review

Sea to Summit Delta Insul-Mug

rated 4 of 5 stars A light but essential winter drinking cup. This may seem a trivial item but when winter camping keeping your hot beverages hot for more than 3 minutes is essential. At 10° F this cup kept my hot mocha from hot to nicely warm for 20 minutes. Likely it could have kept it warm longer, but I drank it before it had a chance to cool. The foam cover keeps the contents hot and your hand from burning. Winter time is NO place for Ti mugs, double walled or not.  I tethered the sipping lid to the cup with… Full review

Energia Hexa-Pot

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Energia's Hexa-Pot is a product that truly fails on every conceivable level. From marketing claims to performance, nothing about this product is worth adding to your backpack. It is rare that I so thoroughly discount a product. However, I honestly can't find anything positive to say about this product. It's claims are disingenuous. Its execution is abysmal. To explain.... I. Disingenuous Marketing Claims From Hexa-Pot packaging... Hexa-Pot is an easy to use ultra-light and 100% biodegradable backpacking… Full review
