User Review: Crazy Creek Crazy Crib LE

Crazy Creek Crazy Crib LE
Above: The current Crazy Crib LE, which may differ slightly from the version reviewed.

Rating: rated 2 of 5 stars
Design: Hammock
Sleeps: 1
Ease of Setup: Simple to attach to trees, but difficult tarp and aluminum pole set up
Weight: 4lbs
Price Paid: $150

I have the Hennessey hammock now and see what a smooth design it is in comparison to the Crazy Crib LE.

The Crazy Crib LE has a very good tarp to cover the apparatus but it has over 15 guy outs and can take a little time to set up.

The hammock itself utilizes internal aluminum poles to keep the bug netting off of you and give the living space needed. Both poles are now broken. Do not loan or let another borrow this without showing them exactly how to enter and exit. Not very practical in the field when your poles break. If the poles attached on the outside of the hammock bug net and clipped into place instead of on the inside it would give the necessary amount of flex to not break you poles.

It does have a convenient sleeve for sleeping pads (necessary if there is cold convective air present). The zips can be very tight when going over where the poles cross. It does not require the knowledge of knots to secure it to two trees. They use a strong webbing and a metal clasp to do all the tightening (very effective).

Overall the LE does not measure up. the plain old Crazy Crib sans extras is a good deal for $25 with less stuff to go wrong. I am very interested in looking at the Clark Jungle Hammock. I own a Hennessey now and love it except for a few issues with a bottom entry system and the cold air underneath.
